My most recent assignment was fun to do — a portrait of the first First Lady and President, done as a vintage painting. Here is the progression of the piece.

Hi Susan. I enjoyed meeting you at the SCBWI conference today (I was the one in love with your yet-to-be published mouse book). I also love this “vintage” George and Martha Washington picture. It reminds me of Tasha Tudor’s early books–just fabulous!
Thank you for your kind words, Cathy! Tasha Tudor has been an inspiration to me. So has Paul O. Zelinsky — wasn’t it fantastic to listen to him talk about his work? I enjoyed meeting you at the conference, too. Sorry for the delay in my response to your comment… I am suddenly swamped with work (perhaps a sign of an improving economy?) I plan to give this painting to my dear parents for their anniversary.
